Landscape Cleanup Transformation — Plymouth, MA

An overgrown property brought back to life with cleanup, bed restoration, mulch, and fresh edging.

Before and after landscape cleanup in Plymouth MA

The Situation

The property hadn't been professionally maintained in over a year. Leaves from two fall seasons had piled up in the beds and along the foundation. Weeds had taken over what used to be clean mulch beds. Overgrown shrubs were blocking windows and encroaching on walkways. The lawn edges had disappeared into the beds, and the overall impression from the street was "neglected."

The homeowner was planning to sell within the year and wanted the exterior to look as sharp as possible. They didn't need a full redesign — they needed someone to make what was already there look the way it was supposed to.

Our Approach

This was a cleanup and restoration project, not a new installation. The bones of the landscape were solid — good plant selection, reasonable bed layout, mature trees. It just needed to be uncovered. Our plan:

  • Full debris removal — leaves, branches, dead plant material from beds, lawn edges, and foundation areas
  • Shrub pruning and shaping — cut back overgrown shrubs to restore their natural shape without removing too much live growth
  • Weed removal — hand-pull weeds from all beds, especially along walkways and the driveway edge where they're most visible
  • Bed edge restoration — re-cut clean lines between lawn and beds using a bed edger, creating the crisp separation that makes everything look intentional
  • Fresh mulch — 2-3 inches of dark mulch in all beds to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and give the entire property a finished, uniform look

The Transformation

The project took two days with a two-person crew. Here's what changed:

Property cleanup and lawn restoration before and after

Lawn edges re-cut, beds cleared of debris, fresh mulch applied. The property line between "maintained" and "neglected" is surprisingly thin.

Waterfront tree trimming and cleanup before and after

Waterfront area cleared — branches trimmed, sight lines restored, ground cleaned up.

Raised garden bed cleanup and mulch refresh

Raised bed area — weeds removed, edges re-defined, fresh mulch gives it a clean, uniform look.

What Made the Biggest Difference

People often think cleanup projects are about removing the bad stuff. They are, partially. But the real transformation comes from three things that happen after the debris is gone:

  1. Clean bed edges. Nothing makes a property look more "done" than a crisp line between lawn and bed. It takes 30 minutes with an edger and changes the entire visual impression.
  2. Uniform mulch. Fresh, dark mulch unifies everything — it hides soil inconsistencies, covers root flare, and gives the beds a consistent color that makes the plants pop.
  3. Pruning for shape, not just size. The goal isn't to make everything smaller. It's to restore the natural shape so the landscape looks intentional rather than overgrown.

The homeowner told us multiple neighbors commented within the first week. The property went from looking like it needed work to looking like someone cared about it — which is exactly what a potential buyer needs to see.
